What’s been going on – upgrades, updates and more

My full time job’s financial year is April to April and so the last month or so has been fairly manic. Work wise (plus my little baby) I’ve spent a lot of time away from printing, just prioritisation really. I also started facing a few printer related issues. My support / camera PC attached to my printer was no longer performing at an acceptable level, video quality was poor and choppy – also the way in which I was capturing the images and the mounts I was using were not really up to scratch. Some design and modification was...

3DGBIRE reveals new Raise3D Pro and Pro 2 Plus printers early

3DGBIRE accidentally announced the two new printers from Raise3D just a little early. I’ve known that Raise3D were coming out with info on something new in the next few weeks however I had no idea what I was. I was fearing it would be an entirely new redesign, as that would then obviously devalue my N2 however 3DGBIRE  accidentally released a mailshot at 4 AM this morning that uncovers the two new printers the Pro 2 and the Pro 2+. The photos don’t give a huge amount away however there’s lots of detail of what hasn’t changed. The...

Headphone Clamp in Gradient Filament – Functional 3D Printing #4

I play Xbox in the living room when the wife is in bed. Problem is due to two young kids I need to wear headphones. As such I have a semi-decent pair of gaming phones – Astro A40s (yes, with custom side panels) but the problem is they’re big, and what to do with them when I’m not in the room. I don’t want to put them away in a box or something – it’s too inconvenient, but I equally don’t wan’t to have them stepped on, twisted or broken or whatever else a 4 year old would do...

Model Painting Stand – Functional 3D printing #3

This post will tell you how I created an FDM printed model painting stand (with a few tweaks). With a resin printer and an FDM printer it’s not surprising that at some point the two would benefit each other. And so no sooner had I finished printing Brain that I started wondering the best way for me to prime him How to print the Model Painting Stand I looks to Thingiverse and found this model, it was a little small though. I don’t have a dedicated workspace so I have to spray paint outside (after warming the part inside)....

Ever wanted to make ABS really stick to the bed? Here’s my guide for ABS Slurry!

There are many different ways to add ABS slurry through your printer bed each has their own advantages and disadvantages. One of the easiest ways to get a full and like coating across the entire bed to use an atomiser spray bottle. Simply decant some acetone into the bottle at roughly 1/10 volume of old waste ABS scraps and give it a little shake. Observe over the next hour and you will see the ABS fully disintegrate into the acetone. You should note that white ABS sometimes contains other articles which do not dissolve, however the ABS slurry will...
